Rates
- I usually charge for translations on a per-line basis, based on the original German text (also called the source text).
- The industry-standard line length is 55 keystrokes (including spaces).
- As a rough guide, one A4 page – at one-and-a-half spacing and with font size 12 – contains about 53 standard lines.
Translation services
- Depending on the degree of difficulty, research effort and text type, I charge between EUR 0.70 and EUR 1.00 per line.
- For comparison, this is roughly equivalent to a per-word price rate, based on 9 words per standard line, of EUR 0.08 to 0.11 per word.
Traditional revision services
- Combined proofreading and language revision services are almost always charged on an hourly basis so that you pay a fair price for the work actually done.
- My hourly rates are between EUR 25.00 and EUR 35.00.
Machine translation post-editing
- Unlike many of my competitors, I do not charge minimum prices or apply rush charges.
- Prices can be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
- My per-word rates for full post-editing start at EUR 0.05/word.
