About me

A native English speaker with dual British and German citizenship, I hold a Bachelor's degree in Ecology and a Master's degree in Forest Management.

Since moving to Germany from the UK in 1996, I have gained over twenty-five years of wide-ranging professional experience as a translator (German-English), proofreader and revisor. I am very familiar with the country, people and culture of my adopted nation. Being bilingual and having multicultural understanding means that I can meet the requirements of both the German source text and the English target text when translating.

I have had many years of collaboration with language service providers and public institutions, especially with Hannover Medical School (MHH) and the city administration of Hannover.

One of my main areas of expertise has been medicine and the life sciences: I have enjoyed providing long-term language support to various research alliances. However, I also have extensive experience in translating and editing a variety of text types from other fields, such as higher education, the environment and sustainable development. My work has also involved numerous assignments in the areas of law, marketing, business and finance. And my published translations include a children's musical.

I have received a great deal of positive customer feedback regarding my reliability, my punctual delivery, and my excellent and audience-appropriate writing style.

For myself, as a professional translator, there is one standard to which I always aspire – namely, a piece of writing that reads like an original text and not a translation.

I am a member of the German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDÜ).
